RSA receives the Caring Company Recognition for 2009/10

RSA Hong Kong was granted Caring Company Award by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service for the eighth year in a row, in recognition of our community involvement and our commitment of being a responsible corporate citizen.

In 2009/10, our efforts in volunteering, giving, caring for the environment, caring for the employee and employing the vulnerable were specially recognised. Besides, the two employees recommended by RSA were named Caring Ambassadors and received a Certificate of Merits.

We are grateful to the nominations from non-profit making organisations including the Down Syndrome Association (DSA), Community Chest, TREATS and Hong Kong PHAB Association (PHAB) for the Award.

In terms of volunteering and giving, we partnered with DSA in running development programmes for their members with Down Syndrome or Autism. We also sponsored TREATS to host an animal farm visit for underprivileged primary school children.

In the area of community programmes, we actively supported blood donation drives and sponsored the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service in promoting World Blood Donor Day. Our employees were encouraged to help the needy by taking part in the Hong Kong Marathon charity race and donating to the organisations that undertook relief work for typhoon victims in Taiwan and earthquake victims in Haiti.

To care for the environment, we set up recycling facilities in office to support waste recycling. Our staff was sponsored to participate in the Green Power Hike again to raise fund for local green education.

Apart from basic employee benefits, we also provided practicum opportunities to the children of our employees, organised employee workshops and interest classes for staff development.

There was a time last year when we needed additional manpower in our support service team. We liaised with PHAB and offered job opportunities to the candidates they referred.

"As an insurance company serving the local community for more than 30 years with perseverance in corporate responsibility, we are really proud of what we have achieved and glad to be nominated by our social service partners. We look forward to extending our scope of service to mentoring that will benefit the community with our professional expertise," said Ricky Chan, RSA Sales & Marketing Director.
