Marine Insurance


If you need to file a Marine Insurance claim:

  1. Please notify your agent, broker or us immediately.
  2. If possible:
    1. Check details of loss/damage at the shipping company's, airline's and forwarder's warehouse before leaving
    2. Otherwise, take photos of the damaged cargo and packing while the cargo is delivered to your warehouse
    3. Mark exception(s) on the delivery receipt at the time of delivery from shipping company/airline/forwarder
  3. Please have the following documents ready for filing a claim:
    1. Commercial invoice
    2. Packing list
    3. Original marine insurance policy
    4. Original bill of lading/airway bill (or legible copy with reverse side)
    5. Claused delivery receipt
    6. Claused container release form (if applicable)
    7. Shortland memo/confirmation from carrier that the missing cargo can no longer be traced or their letter of settlement offer and the discharge form
    8. Letter against common carrier and their reply, if any
    9. Original survey report with photos and debit note
    10. Claim note
